Gluten-Free Apple Crisp Recipe With Oats

Going gluten free means you can still enjoy some of your favorite tasty treats. Even oats can be on the ingredient list as long as you choose brands that are certified gluten-free.

Apple Filling Ingredients

  • 6 large apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Topping Ingredients

  • 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cups certified gluten-free oats
  • 1/2 cups almond meal
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cups butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Toss apples in lemon juice, white sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  3. Place apple mixture in a 9-inch square baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together brown sugar, oats, almond meal, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon until well blended.
  5. Stir in the melted butter.
  6. Place the oats mixture on top of apples in your baking dish.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes (or until golden brown and bubbly).
  8. Top with gluten-free ice cream, whipped topping, or sliced almonds, if desired.
